Donor Area Limits in a Hair Transplant
Every hair transplant is limited by the donor area. Grafts come from hair that is more resistant to pattern loss, usually the back and sides. That bank is finite. A good plan spends it across years, not in one aggressive pass that leaves a moth-eaten donor.
Why counts are not a sales metric
A higher graft number is not automatically a better outcome. Density in the front that empties the back is a poor trade. Physicians estimate how many units can be taken while the donor still looks even at a short length. Your age and family pattern change that estimate.
Technical background on follicular-unit surgery is collected in StatPearls / NCBI. It is written for clinicians. You only need the idea that units are counted and conserved.
FUE-specific donor care
An FUE hair transplant spreads extraction points. Spacing still matters. Repeat sessions need unused territory. If you already had surgery elsewhere, say so on day one so maps are not guessed.
